Standards in our School
We are proud of our high standards. Over the last five years, our Year 2 leavers regularly achieve results well in excess of national averages.
- Mathematics: 88% achieved Level 2B or above (the expected standard for 7 year olds)
- Reading: 82% achieved Level 2B or above
- Writing: 88% achieved Level 2B or above
‘Value added’ in our School
Schools like to know that their pupils are progressing well. We use tests from the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) to measure our children each year. These tests are marked and adjusted according to age; it results in a ‘standardised score’ which can be compared to other children nationally. We aim for every child to make progress that is in excess of the norm.
Attendance at our School
From a child’s earliest days at school good (or poor) habits are formed. We feel it essential for children to attend school regularly and punctually. Every child must be in their classroom reading quietly, by 9 am. We publish our term dates at least a year in advance. Term-time holidays are not authorised.
Children can be absent from school for the following reasons only
- Illness
- Medical appointments including the dentist
- To visit another school for prospective entry
- To attend the wedding or funeral of a family member
- For other exceptional family reasons, as discussed with the Headteacher
Please telephone the school office before 9 am if your child is going
to be away that day owing to illness.
All unauthorised absence is notified to our Education Welfare Officer,
who may wish to follow up by contacting the family. In exceptional circumstances
a fine can be imposed.
