Early Years Foundation Stage Assessment
In the Early Years Foundation Stage, children are assessed against the seven areas of the EYFS. These assessments are made throughout the course of the year. At the end of the year, children are judged as to whether they have achieved a ‘Good Level of Development’ (GLD). To achieve GLD, children must achieve the Early Learning Goal in the three prime areas of learning (Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language) alongside the specific areas of Mathematics and Literacy. As is the case for the Year 2 staff, our Year R staff moderate their judgements extensively both within and across school and at Hampshire moderation sessions.
